Talacauvery Temple – Talacauvery temple is one of the magnificent shrines, in the Bhagamandala town, placed in the district of Kodagu (Coorg). Situated on the zenith, of Brahmagiri Hill, at an altitude of 4,186.35ft, above sea level, the Talacauvery temple is nestled, amidst lush greenery and proffers panoramic, scenic beauty. An ideal vacation spot, Bhagamandala is a place where three rivers meet and is well-known as Triveni Sangama. Talacauvery temple is also called Dakshina Kashi. 

As per a belief, if you take a dip in the holy Bhagamandala river, you will be free from all kinds of physical and psychological miseries. The water here is presumed to have, healing and miraculous powers. It is also said that the Coorgi community people consider Goddess Cauvery Devi, as their main deity, and term the river Cauvery as a holy river. Talacauvery is located about, 8kms from Bhagamandala. 

 

There are many small temples here, and many devotees visit this beautiful temple every year. The temple here is dedicated to Lord Agastyeshwara Swamy/Lord Shiva. As per Hindu mythology, the river Cauvery is one of the most sacred rivers in India.

 

Talacauveri is marked with Brahma Kundike or Tirth Kundike. A small spring of water originates from this place and hence, it is referred to as Talacauvery. There are two temples here. One of Lord Shiva which houses an ancient Linga, and the other of Lord Ganesha. The Linga is said to have been installed by Sage Agastya. Tula Sankramana is a major festival, celebrated in this place with great splendor in October, every year. The best time to visit the Talacauvery temple is, from September to May. Tip – Avoid going to this temple, during the monsoon season, as it might be slippery.
