Dalhousie is a hill station, in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Situated on five hills, and is at an altitude of, 6,460ft above sea level. This town of Dalhousie was named after The Earl of Dalhousie, who was the then Governor-General in India. This place was established as a summer retreat. This hill station is a paradise for nature lovers, as the pine-clad valleys, vibrant flower meadows, fast-glowing rivers, misty mountains, and the lush green landscape around are enrapturing. This magnificent hill station was once the favorite summer destination of the British people, during the Indian colonial era. 

 

As all the structures in Dalhousie, are built in the style of Scottish and Victorian architecture, this reminds you of the colonial heritage. Well-known as “Little Switzerland of India,” this hill station is situated away from the bustling metros and placed amidst the greenery. The Panch Pulla, Satdhara Falls, and Dainkund peak are the most famous tourist places to visit in this captivating hill station. 

 

The best time to visit Dalhousie is the summer season, which begins in March and lasts up to May. Summer is the most-visited season of the year, as the weather is cool and pleasant, compared to the scorching heat of the cities.

How to reach Dalhousie

Delhi to Dalhousie Bus – 

As there is no direct flight to Dalhousie from Delhi, you need to travel to Dharamsala, and from there, continue your journey further to Dalhousie, by opting for a cab.
