Kote Venkataramana temple

One of the most age-old temples, of Bangalore, this temple is an abode of Lord Venkateshwara, i.e. Lord Vishnu. Located in Krishnarajendra Road, this shrine was constructed by the, then Mysore ruler, Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar, in 1689. This religious place is a 17th-century one, that followed the Dravidian, and Vijayanagara, style of architecture. As this temple is, situated in the vicinity, of the Old Fort, it came to be called Kote Venkataramana Temple. Fort in, the language of Kannada, means Kote. This Old Fort was once, the Summer Palace of the great Mysore emperor, Tippu Sultan.

 

As per a legend, the colossal obelisk, of this archaic temple had once saved the life, of Tippu Sultan from, a British cannonball during the time, of the Third Anglo-Mysore War. Inside the Sanctorum, you will find the artistically incised effigies, of the holy triad: Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. If you, go around the environs of this temple, you can even, spot Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple, which is also, equally renowned. Entry to this temple is, free. 

 

Timings – 8 AM to 8:30 PM. The best time to visit this place is from, 6 PM to 7 PM.
