If you belong to the tribe of ‘Indiana Jones’, then this is the place for you to explore which dates back to 350 AD!!So, let me give you a dose of history so that you can start connecting the missing dots from here.
Manne was the second capital of Ganga SripurushaIt was earlier called as ManyapuraIt was captured and destroyed by Cholas at their beginning of the 11the century. It was once a flourishing town and now you can find the temple ruins. There are two important temples; Kapileshwara and Akka-Tangiyaragudi (sisters’ temple) and Sri Vijaya Basadi. In Kapileshwara temple, one can find dwarapalakas in tribhanga. The walls of the garbhagriha and navaranga have now partly fallen.
They have two beautiful windows with floral designs and figures of yakshas in between the monuments have been crumbling and requires conservation.
The Akka-Tangiyara gudi in front of them has a Nandi and the wall has fine pilasters. We can find the ruins of Sri Vijaya Basadi with 17 pillars.
Its structure is different from many other temples. It has an elevated roof which is not less than 20 feet high. The incomplete or fallen roof structure indicates that there existed a much bigger structure.
